Blood Type Diet

You may want to try blood type diet if you are sick of following the numerous fad diets. This diet program gives you a way of eating that relies on your blood type – A, B, AB or O.

It all started with Peter D’Adamo, a naturopathic doctor who presented the idea that a person’s blood type determines the foods that are healthy for him or her. In fact he has written a book “Eat Right for Your Blood Type” that explains the origins of each blood type and explains why each blood type has specific antibodies against some foods.

How it WorksThe blood type diet includes lists of foods that are beneficial for each blood type. The food list will also include the foods that you should avoid in order to effectively diet by blood type. Dr. D’Adamo assures that following this diet will not only improve your health but will also help you achieve your ideal weight.

The idea is based on the fact that all foods have lectins which are proteins that interact with the antibodies in the blood. When a lectin reacts to a certain blood type it causes agglutination to occur. This means that the lectins make the blood sticky and these sticky blood cells do not only cause obesity but other medical conditions as well.

To reverse this, you must avoid or limit your consumption of foods that causes this. Dr. D’Adamo has tested most foods on each blood type and formulated what is now known as the blood type diet. When you diet by blood type you get to avoid offending lectins and improve your health as well.
