Cardiac Diet | Healthy Tips



Cardiac diet is really important to every people especially to those people who have higher risks of developing heart attack or other heart conditions. People who have these conditions also have a required diet of their own known as the cardiac diet. This is used as a preventive measure that comes with specific and precise guidelines. For those who have heart ailments, this is the proper diet that you should follow:

The Diet

  • You need to reduce your food intake when it comes to animal fat because it may increase your high blood pressure. If your have heart problems, always monitor your blood pressure to avoid any complications.
  • Instead of butter, try to use Trans fat free margarine. This has less cholesterol content.
  • You need to read labels when you buy your food at the supermarket. You need to take note on the amount of Trans fat that the food contains.
  • Always eat more fruits and vegetables. The green leafy vegetables and fruits will increase the nutrients in your body. These are good source of anti-oxidants.
  • Also, try to reduce sodium intake. Sodium can also cause heart problems especially when you are using salt and sodium to add flavor in the food that you cook.
  • Make sure that you add fish to the diet. They are more healthy and nutritious than meat and other meat alternatives. You can eat meat but you have to limit it to at least three to four times per week.
  • Try to eliminate caffeine in your diet. It can cause palpitation and shortness of breath.
  • You need to increase your physical activity. This is to enhance your stamina and to keep you in good condition. But you need to start for at least five minutes everyday.
  • If you are a smoker, you need to quit and stop smoking. This is not helpful in your cardiac diet. This is more dangerous to your health.
  • Keep away from skills that develop stress so that you can relax when stress is inevitable. Being in this state is not good for your heart. When you are stressed, your feeling will greatly affect the beating of your heart.
  • Try to relax and spare at least 15 minutes for you to relax each day. It is better if you are going to practice this everyday. This is a very important component in maintaining a healthy heart.
  • Increase your intake for soy foods. Soy foods contain soy protein that can help lower your blood cholesterol level.
  • Learn and try to prepare your meals with no salt or sodium. It is better if you can create your own substitutes for sodium or salt.
